Working with Energies, Dropping into Silence
With Becky Butler, LCSW
October 13 - 15, 2017
This fall weekend retreat will be a combination of Taoist meditation (sometimes quiet, sometimes not) and silent retreat. Group meditation sessions will emphasize a surrendered relationship to internal energies as well as to stillness. We’ll be working with emotions as they arise and using our spiritual energies to assist ourselves and others. We’ll also be working with the power of the land, interacting with the transformative energies of trees, stone and water.
The periods between meditation sessions will be in silence, allowing us to deepen our awareness, drop more fully into our own experience, and cultivate our capacity to awaken to our own true nature.
The weekend is appropriate for those who already have experience with this blend of Buddhism and Taoism. The retreat offers an opportunity to enhance our practice, to strengthen our foundation, and to allow ourselves to be deeply nourished.

The retreat will be held at The Elohee Retreat Center in Sautee Nacoochee (15 minutes from Helen & Unicoi State Park; 90 minutes from Atlanta). Nestled in the midst of 200 acres of undeveloped land in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian mountains, the Retreat House is built overlooking a 100’ waterfall. The land has over two miles of walking trails, expansive vistas, a mountain-top pond and hot tub, and natural support for silence and intuitive connection. The land itself is powerfully transformative.
We’ll begin with dinner at 6p on Friday and end after lunch at 1:30p on Sunday. The food is always healthy and delicious at Elohee, and they’re happy to do whatever possible to accommodate special diet needs.
Our intention is to create an environment that supports the deepening of meditation practice, encourages an awareness of the energies of nature, and enhances clarity regarding our own path.
