The SEE Learning Team Leads are a dedicated group of educators committed to fostering social, emotional, and ethical learning at Woodward Academy, an independent school in Atlanta that serves over 2400 students. United by a shared passion for creating compassionate and inclusive learning environments, we model resilience, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and integrate SEE Learning principles into diverse educational settings. As empowered educators, compassionate facilitators, and ethical advocates, we bridge research-based practices with real-world application, ensuring alignment with Woodward Academy’s mission. Through collaboration, reflection, and innovation, we strive to cultivate thriving, interconnected communities where students and educators grow together.

Mission

The SEE Learning Team Lead Retreat is a dedicated space for fostering an inclusive, compassionate, and resilient community of educators. Through identity exploration, reflective practices, and intentional dialogue, participants will deepen their understanding of social, emotional, and ethical learning while cultivating meaningful pathways to co-create compassionate classrooms. This retreat serves as a catalyst for embedding SEE Learning principles into our teaching, coaching, and leadership, empowering us to integrate these practices into the fabric of Woodward Academy’s mission and vision.

Retreat Vision

Our retreat envisions an immersive and transformative experience where team leads engage as learners, facilitators, and compassionate witnesses. In a tranquil and natural setting, participants will:

  • Co-Create Community: Build an inclusive and safe space that honors individual identities, fosters trust, and encourages meaningful collaboration.
  • Cultivate Resilience & Awareness: Practice present-moment awareness, embodied healing, and mindful reflection to enhance personal and professional well-being.
  • Deepen Understanding of SEE Learning: Engage with the four key learning threads—critical thinking, reflective practices, scientific perspectives, and engaged learning—to enrich both pedagogy and practice.
  • Strengthen Teaching, Learning & Coaching Approaches: Explore diverse strategies to refine facilitation styles and promote student voice, agency, and flourishing.
  • Align with the Woodward Way: Examine Woodward Academy’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan, ensuring SEE Learning integration aligns with institutional values and priorities.
  • Plan for Meaningful Implementation: Collaboratively set S.M.A.R.T. goals that drive comprehensive and sustainable integration of SEE Learning across all five schools.
  • Through shared experiences, creative expression, and mindful engagement, we will leave the retreat with renewed inspiration, actionable strategies, and a strong sense of purpose in advancing SEE Learning within our communities.
