*What is Somatics?!

Somatic has become a popular buzzword in the healing world, yet many people still aren’t sure what it truly means. The term somatic comes from the Greek word soma, meaning “body.” Somatic work focuses on how the body feels from the inside out. In a somatic practice, the emphasis is not on how the body looks, but on the internal experience of sensation.

This approach invites participants to explore the connection between their thoughts, beliefs, and physical responses, recognizing that the body and mind are deeply interconnected. In a culture that often keeps people “in their heads,” somatic practices offer a pathway back to embodied awareness.

Somatic techniques can be incorporated into dance, breath work, yoga asanas, and restorative postures. Through cultivating somatic awareness, individuals can release stress, support their nervous systems, and feel more grounded, empowered, and connected to themselves.
