A space for cultivating rest, personal transformation and collective wellbeing

A time for reflection and renewal—the Embodied Justice Retreat is a bold and intentional space for Black changemakers.

Rooted in the collective visions of leaders working at the intersections of racial equity, justice, and transformation, this retreat reflects an imagined future where Black well-being and liberation are fully realized through connection, rest, and embodied practice.

This retreat is not just an event—it’s a sanctuary—a space where Black changemakers come to release, restore, and reconnect with themselves and their purpose. In a time when racial equity work faces heightened scrutiny and leaders are grappling with burnout, isolation, and gaslighting, this retreat offers the vital care you need to continue leading from a place of power and wholeness.

Through a mix of self and group reflection, time in nature, restorative yoga, somatic practices, meditation, storytelling, soundbaths, creative expression, and more, this retreat offers a transformative space to:

  • Process the complexities of racial equity work. With optional activities tailored to meet your needs, you can reflect deeply, take quiet time for yourself, or engage in shared experiences with peers.
  • Reclaim your joy and liberation. Release guilt, stress, and tension stored in your body, and reconnect with practices that nourish your spirit.
  • Dream boldly and stay connected to what matters most. Declare powerful visions for yourself and your community.
  • Build resilience and sustain leadership in the face of challenges. Learn and practice somatic (body-based), mindfulness, and restorative approaches to leadership that expand your ability to advance equity and justice without sacrificing your well-being.
  • Build lasting connections. Leave with the wisdom and support of a community committed to justice, healing, and collective well-being.

Bonus: Two post-retreat online integration sessions will support you in weaving the insights and practices gained into your daily life and leadership.

Who This Retreat Is For

Our intent is to make this retreat accessible to Black changemakers including race, equity, diversity and inclusion directors, community organizers and program staff and consultants. The retreat is open to all genders and is an LGBTQ+ friendly space.

Registration & Scholarship Deadlines

Registration closes on Tuesday, July 1. If you have been awarded a scholarship or travel assistance, you must register by Friday, May 30, to secure your scholarship. Scholarships will be released after May 31 to provide others who request financial support an opportunity to attend the retreat.

Optional Bodywork Services

This retreat is part of CURE’s Embodied Justice program, which explores ways to make racial equity and justice work sustainable by providing space for Black changemakers to explore restorative, embodiment, and mindfulness practices.
