Deep Ecology Immersion
With Courtney Brooke and Brandy Hall
August 23 - 25, 2019
Deep Ecology invites us to experience ourselves as part of the living Earth, rather than separate from it, and supports us to find our own role to powerfully protect the planet. Through experiential Deep Ecology exercises, sharing, music, and poetry, we remember our interconnectedness, dissolve obstructions between person and planet, and finding empowerment as an agent of healing change. As part of our time together at Elohee Retreat Center, we will enjoy 7 miles of trails, waterfalls, ancient Hemlocks, yoga, and wholesome meals in this weekend immersion.
The Context of Deep Ecology
These are extraordinary times we are living in. A time where so many of us are living lives of disconnection with ourselves, with each other and with the natural world. In these times of ecological, political and social catastrophes looming on the horizon, it is essential that we dig deep to find our creative will and power to act in the world. The Work That Reconnects is a body of work that helps us reconnect to one another and to this living Earth.
The Work That Reconnects is based in Systems Theory, Eco-philosophy, spiritual views from around the world. Johanna Macy, John Seed and others have developed this body of work over the last 40 years to help guide us towards a more holistic world view and heal broken relationships with the natural world.
In this weekend workshop, we will journey through experiential activities that spiral through the 4 stages of The Work: Coming from Gratitude, Honoring our Pain for the World, Seeing with New Eyes, and Going Forth. “They help us experience first hand that we are larger, stronger, deeper, and more creative than we have been brought up to believe.”
Everybody is welcome. No previous experience necessary.
